Health Care Delivery System Redesign

Health Care Delivery Redesign

The current delivery system is structured for maximizing revenue in a fee-for-service model of care that rewards volume rather than high-quality, consumer-centered and cost-effective care. This model lacks transparency in cost and quality information as well as incentives for shared decision making between providers and consumers.

CIVHC is working to improve the way health care is delivered by introducing changes that encourage payment based on results, not volume. CIVHC believes that the most critical element to create a sustainable, patient-centered and high-quality health care system is realigning the payment system to incent providers to achieve those outcomes and to provide consumers with comparative data to make value decisions based on cost and quality. In the end, we’re aiming to achieve concrete outcomes that enhance consumers’ health care experiences, such as:

  • Timely access to services
  • Clear communication among providers, as well as between providers and their patients
  • High-quality customer service
  • Shared decision-making between patients and their providers
